Private Boat Trip
Our custom cruise option is basically your own private boat trip. You can choose the locations you wish to visit and the activities you wish to do. Book your day and then we can help plan the itinerary. Below are some ideas that may get you started . . .
Leaving Kyle of Lochalsh pontoon, perhaps you might want to take a trip over to Sandaig Bay, the location where the famous Gavin Maxwell wrote about his otters and a film was subsequently produced: Ring of Bright Water (1960) and the sequel, The Rocks Remain (1963), about his otters Edal, Teko, Mossy and Monday.
Sandaig has a picturesque beach to visit and the trip takes in an exciting passage of water, known as Kylerhea, which is always teaming with wildlife and interesting views of Skye and the mainland as you speed through the narrows!
You’ll pass the local ferry and turntable, with a mad collie dog rounding up stationary cars on it, which has been operating as a car ferry since 1935!
Perhaps you will carry on to Mallaig, the bustling gateway to Southern Skye and from where you can catch other ferries to Canna, Rhum, Muck and Eigg, very special islands that are not so visited by tourists. A chance to get away from it all! The trip passes Loch Hourn, the last great wilderness in Scotland.
Other Trips may be Portree and the fun of cruising under the Skye bridge – an amazing experience on the way up to the North part of Skye. You’ll pass the islands of Pabbay, Scalpay, Raasay and Rona – all available to visit on request and each one with its own special beauty, history and interest. Take your pick!
